Oamaru Heritage Radio is a small volunteer run station with a studio in Itchen Street, and transmitters in Oamaru and Moeraki. Some of its programmes are picked up by other stations through the country (eg Palmerston, Twizel, Culverden, Feilding) and rebroadcast, thus spreading the Heritage signal further afield.
At present the Station is seeking applications from people interested enough in their music to take over the studio at various times. Most of the available slots for programme presenters are early and mid-evening slots. Most sessions are about 2 or 3 hours long.
The big fear people have is the fear of the microphone. Don't worry – it sorts itself out. All that's needed is a love of one or more genres of music and you want to share your love with others, the ability to learn to operate a very basic mixing desk, and a weekly commitment to a given time slot. The Station has ample stocks of CDs for all musical tastes, so you don't need to supply your own CDs.
If you wish to try this, then call in at the Station at 6 Itchen Street to pick up an introductory brochure, or phone the studio, 4340362 and ask for a brochure to be posted to you.
Tuesday evenings on Heritage Radio are fully formatted, but very few of other programmers do this.
The Station is on air for 24 hours a day and can be heard on 88.3 and 107, both of which are in the Fm band. It is an LPFM (Low power fm) station, legally limited to no more than 1 watt of output on 107, and 3 watts on 88.3. So- the range is not great!

Happy Listening -(Note, this blog is fully and carefully formatted before "Publish" is clicked on. It gets moved around after that and gives the appearnace it's not been prepared properly.)
