The news is not good.
In October the antenna on Moeraki 107 fm was destroyed by wind. The 'powers that be' have decided not to reinstate it and have taken the transmitter off site. They decided the transmitter had no listeners, as no-one had notified the station about the lack of signal..
The main transmitter on Cape Wanbrow at 88.3 is still operational. (Moeraki was a 'slave' to this one, as is a 107 transmitter at the north end of Oamaru). Listeners in Moeraki/Hampden who wish to tune in to 88.3 and are in a higher location, will still be able to hear Oamaru Heritage Radio, bur perhaps not a strong as previously
My programme TREVOR'S TUESDAY VARIETY TIME on Tuesday nights will continue, and I shall keep posting the details on this blog. But the regular monthly updates in the Hamraki Rag will cease.
Happy listening, and remember that if you too, wish to present your own programme, get in touch with us --Oamaru Heritage Radio, 6 Itchen St, Oamaru, ph 4340 362 .
